STRAIGHT SKIRT

STRAIGHT SKIRT
Analysis of the straight skirt:

1) Waistline.
2) Sideline.
3) Front center line (it is the work line upon implementing the pattern).
4) End of skirt line.
From the above, we see that the straight skirt consists of 2 pieces (the right piece and the left piece), they are identical. Therefore, and for easy implementation, you can implement the pattern by making one piece, where the front center line is the same work line (pattern implementation line). We need to know the requested size:

1) Half waistline.

2) Half hip line.
3) Skirt’s length.
Steps of implementation:
1) Mark the implementation line (front center line). Its length = required skirt’s length. It is represented in points (A, B).
2) From point (A), draw a vertical line, the length of which = quarter waistline + 3 cm for the tuck. We shall call the end of (A) extension as (A1).
3) Draw a line parallel to line (A, A1) far away by the distance of side length (18 – 20) cm, and we mark points (C, C1).

4) From point (B), which is the end of the skirt’s length, we draw a vertical line, the length of which = quarter of hip circumference – 1 cm. The line shall be named (B, B1).

5) Connect the sideline through connecting point (A1) with point (C1) using Riga ruler with a curved line – as shown in figure, provided that the curved line does not exceed point (C1).
6) Draw a straight line to connect between points (C1, B1) using a ruler.
7) Amend waistline by drawing a (1cm) extension from point (A1), then connect the end of this extension with the tangent of waistline (A, A1) using a curved line as indicated in the figure.

8) Make sure that the sideline between points (A1, C1, B1) is equal in length to the front center line (A, B, C).
9) Mark the location of tuck. It must be half way of line (A, A1) + 1 cm. The result is taken from point (A) towards point (A1), provided that the length of tuck is 11 cm upon implementation.
10) By implementing the above mentioned steps we will have half of the front part of the straight skirt.
11) Since the front part is made of two identical pieces (right and left), we now have the full front part.

N.B.: The steps for implementing the back part are the same as those for the front part. The back is also made of two pieces so that we can install a zipper and add the back lower opening to facilitate movement.

12) Add the value of sewing stitches for both the front and back parts.

13) The waistband for a straight skirt is a rectangle, the length of which = waistline + 10 cm. and its width is 11 cm or according to the model.
